UCLH Private Healthcare’s spinal service offers the entire range of diagnostic and treatment options for problems with the spine, with the exception of acute trauma.

Our surgical spine team has the greatest number of referrals across London for degenerative spine problems, including lumbar, cervical, lumbar radiculopathy (pinching of a nerve root) and spinal tumours. Queen Square is the regional hub for spinal services and is a national centre for uncommon spinal problems, giving us the expertise to address the entire spectrum of spinal problems, from back pain to spinal tumours.

Our team also offers treatment for spinal infections, spine deformities (for example, scoliosis), osteoporotic spine fractures, spinal fluid leaks, sciatica and rheumatoid arthritis of the spine.

Our spinal services include a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art diagnostic options including 3T MRI scans, facilities for MRI scans for patients with pacemakers, PET, CT and SPECT scans.

We have two dedicated spinal surgery operating theatres on site with state-of-the-art facilities including our recently acquired spinal navigation and robotic system, which includes intra-operative 3D CT scan imagery that significantly improves the accuracy of surgical techniques.

Treatment plans are reviewed in our twice weekly multidisciplinary meetings which bring together spinal professionals in a range of disciplines, including collaboration with the world-renowned neurology department at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. This provides the most comprehensive service for our patients as we consider whether alternative options for spinal problems are possible, outside of surgery.

Our team of specialist surgeons are experts in their field and are also involved in research projects including machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Our consultants are often asked to speak at international conferences and offer national and international neurosurgery teaching courses via the Queen Square Simulation Centre.
