Ms Huma Sethi undertook her neurosurgical training in the UK, mainly based in London. She has been working as a consultant neurosurgeon at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery since 2009.

Her sub-specialist interests are:

  • Brain tumour surgery
  • Gamma Knife peripheral nerve surgery eg carpal tunnel and nerve biopsies
  • Intraventricular endoscopy for obstructive hydrocephalus, colloid cyst, tumour biopsy
  • She has worked as Training Programme Director for Neurosurgery in North Thames London and has been a member of specialist advisory committee in Neurosurgery from 2014 to 2017. Currently she is a question writer for the intercollegiate neurosurgery exam.

She conducts neurosurgery educational courses in conjunction with national and international faculty. Has has the advanced certificate in clinical education from Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Glasgow.

She is a Regional Director for The Royal College of Surgeons (North East London). She also supports the college in her roles as an RCS accessor and RCS faculty.

Research interests

Ms Sethi has worked in close collaboration with Professor David Attwell, Ross Nortley and their team on the project of Amyloid beta oligomers constrict human capillaries in Alzheimer's disease via signaling to pericytes.
