UCLH Private Healthcare now offers a comprehensive autonomic diagnostic service to help patients understand the reason behind disorders such as light-headedness or fainting, constipation, bladder control problems, or sexual dysfunction.
Private patients will be seen in a dedicated private autonomic suite on the Bloomsbury Private Ward at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. From there, they will participate in a range of tests to stimulate their autonomic system. All the tests have been designed to reflect experiences in the “real world”, which sets UCLH apart from other autonomic diagnostic services in the UK.
An expert autonomic clinician will then assess any results from UCLH’s specialist autonomic laboratory - the largest in the world. Patients will be given an evidence-based assessment, with recommendations for practical therapies where appropriate, recommendations for further clinical input if required, and reassurance if test results are normal.
“The earlier patients with any autonomic dysfunction are properly investigated and treated, the more effective the treatment can be”, said consultant neurologist Dr Valeria Iodice. “The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery has one of the most respected autonomic diagnostic services in the world and we are delighted that we can now extend this service to our private patients.”
